The Galloway is a very ancient hornless cow, originating from the South West of Scotland.
It has been renowned since the 16th century for the taste quality of its meat, very rich in fatty acids, mainly unsaturated.
Hardy cows, very vigorous, especially in winter and very resistant to disease, Galloways give birth most of the time without any difficulty and are very maternal.
Its characteristic coat consists of a double coat. A coarse first coat consisting of long, curly hair with a woolly undercoat for winter.
